| Return-To-Work Programs: Part of your PEO's battle strategy for reducing Workers' Compensation Costs |
Presume for a moment that one of your employees has been seriously injured on the job. For a business struggling to maintain a profit margin, the scenario presents some huge concerns unless you are fortunate enough to have enrolled as a client of a PEO. It is now the PEO’s responsibility to handle all the workers’ compensation claims and the resultant increased costs.
One option we are able to offer is a “Return-To-Work” program. Simply, stated, a return-to-work program is a system that allows injured employees to return to the workforce as soon as possible, though not always in the same capacity or even at the same work-site.
Rather than simply recuperating at home, many workers can be placed temporarily in a situation that allows them to work at a modified light-duty task while they are recovering. There are indications that most workers recover sooner when they are able to maintain a productive routine rather than sitting at home worrying about lost wages.
A PEO has an advantage in this respect because of the wide range of job descriptions filled by its “employees.” The scenario works something like this: Andrew, who normally runs a book-binding machine, injures his hand on the job. Under normal circumstances, he would be out of work for a period of several months. But our co-employment arrangement allows us to place him temporarily as a security attendant with another firm until he recovers.
Return-to-work programs are just one more employment advantage you have at your fingertips as a result of your decision to enroll with us.
