| One More Item You Need To Check: A moment's caution assures an accurate W-2 |
Here’s just one more little item you need to check off before you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing you’re all set for the New Year.
Now is the time to take a close look at your pay stub and verify that all of the information such as name, address, and Social Security Number are printed accurately. If your pay stub is wrong, your W-2’s will be incorrect too. Fixing any problems now assures that your W-2 information will be accurate when tax filing season arrives. Needed corrections must be made before December 31.
Please be aware of the following guidelines as well:
- If your filing status, exemption allowances, or “exempt” status have changed since you last filed a W-4, the IRS requires you to fill out a new one. The deadline is December 1.
- If you claimed yourself “exempt” from withholding this year, you must fill out a new W-4 for next year, or our software will automatically reset your deductions and withhold taxes as if you were single with zero allowances. Please fill out a new W-4 by February 15 of next year.
- If you do not receive a W-2, or if information is printed incorrectly, you may request a reprinted or corrected W-2. (There may be a charge for reprinting a W-4 because of an incorrect address).
