| Office Politics: Consider hiring a bright, motivated but jobless campaign director |
Here’s a tidbit of recruiting advice. One great time to snatch up a terrific employee is during the waning hours of the November elections. When the elections are all over, politicos whose candidates were not successful in winning their elections may have little employment available to them aside of removing placards from the great American roadways.
A newly-launched website, CapitolWorks.com, may be your ticket to finding a political or public affairs specialist, or even just a rock-solid college grad who is ready to program computers, drive a truck, or man your telephone lines. CapitolWorks includes listings in more than 15 categories including: media and press, legislative, fundraising and development, research and analysis, writing and editing, and technology.
It is important to realize that most post-political employees rely on networking to land new jobs. Knowing this, be sure you put out feelers among your existing employees to recommend friends or acquaintances whose job skills match your needs.
