Getting Fit Causing You Fits? Try a three-minute workout

“I’ve never understood why I can find time to hold down a job, raise a child, cook, clean, sing in a choir, volunteer at my daughter’s school, gossip on the phone with friends and family, and loll about in sweats watching unimproving programs on TV—yet can’t find time to exercise regularly,” writes Rosie.  

Chances are you’re sitting somewhere reading this article, munching on a Milky Way bar and wondering the same thing.  But Rosie Mestel has a new routine she swears is the answer.  Scientific research backs her personal findings:  You can improve your level of fitness with brief, consistent physical exertion.

Rosie’s routine includes three basic elements:

  1. A few two-minute bursts of intense activity: stair climbing, jumping rope, etc.
  2. At least one brisk ten-minute walk or bike ride every day (usually part of her workday errands)
  3. Anytime exercise (She takes any opportunity to move).

Use your creativity and determine how you might turn your everyday tasks into miniature calorie-burning opportunities.  Time is usually a factor, but if it will only take five minutes to dig the weeds out of that flowerbed, versus the three it will take to spray them with Roundup—well, life is full of sacrifices. 

Hopefully, your altered routine will accomplish everything you ever hoped for.  It’s an almost sure bet you’ll enjoy a stronger heart, a more muscular frame, and a better outlook on life.  That’s something worth sweating for.

  • Parking in the stall nearest the Park in the stall furthest from the door entrance to your workplace
  • Watching T.V. to unwind
  • Go for a brisk walk in the sunset
  • Taking the elevator Use the stairs
