Some low and no-cost ideas to get your creative juices flowing
The labor market is so tight right now that retaining employees has become a major concern for most companies. Enrolling with us will give you an edge when it comes to keeping your employees happy so they’ll stay on board.
Here are a few ideas other successful companies have generated as low or no-cost benefits they could offer their employees. Although the “fit” may not be right for your company, seeing what others are doing may help your management team generate some creative ideas of their own:
- Base perks on longevity: The owner of one high-tech business has implemented a plan that gives employees who have worked for the company for at least three years a free monthly housecleaning and a $1,200 travel voucher (the allotment must be used as a lump-sum, giving employees the chance to take trips they would not be able to afford otherwise).
- Generate perks that enhance your corporate “purpose”: Lisa Thomas, founder of a business that produces energy-bars decided that a great way to beat employment stress and sell her company’s message to its employees would be to build an on-site company gym. Employees work out on company time and have access to help from the three personal trainers that were already on-staff. The gym includes two rock climbing walls and basic fitness equipment. Eighty percent of the staff use the facilities regularly.
- Offer benefits that cost you nothing: When one company boosted its sales goals by 20%, the sales staff thought they were crazy—until managers dangled the carrot: “banker’s hours.” Members of the sales staff were told that as soon as they hit their goals, they could go home at 2 for the rest of that month. Did it work? The sales force broke every record in the company’s 52-year history.
