As we start another open enrollment, one aspect of providing benefits for your employees takes on added importance: We need your help in making employees aware of Open Enrollment Deadlines.
Open Enrollment applies mainly to the core set of benefits: Health, Dental and Vision Insurance. Employees who do not currently participate in these plans have a limited window of opportunity for enrolling for the coming year. During open enrollment, employees have the opportunity to enroll for coverage, change coverage options or types, or discontinue coverage. Generally, once a selection is made, changes can be made only under limited conditions.
Here’s an example that may clarify things: Joseph has been participating in his former employer’s health insurance plan through COBRA for the past few months. His COBRA option expires in May of next year, and he plans to use your health insurance plan from that point forward.
Depending on the specifics of the health plan you have selected for your employees, Joseph may be ineligible to enroll in our health plan unless he has signed up during the “open enrollment” period. Missing Open Enrollment deadlines represents a significant headache for you and your employees.
A representative from our benefits department will be contacting you with dates of specific deadlines. Meanwhile, if there are any questions, or if you have employees who might need additional information about their benefits options, please contact a Benefits Consultant at HR Outsourcing, Inc. for assistance.
